Dig up in Aus, send to Indonesia, then ship to Nz, then transport to Huntly power station
That’s what we are doing by an ever increasing amount now
That’s what the government thinks is a good environmental option
Morons.

At the moment Jacinda is all about making herself look good on the world stage. Why else would overseas students and refugees be elegible to enter NZ while there are still citizens struggling to find a spot in MIQ. PS NZ is not a pimple on a pumpkin, it is merely a pimple on the back side of the world.

Although my body is ageing and it is now rapidly downhill all the way, at least I'll be gone before any of this nonsense is likely to kick in, and if it doesn't, I'll pass on, grateful that I have probably been born neither too early, nor too late - but I do want to be cremated.
I don't subscribe to much of the man-made climate change argument, but what cannot be argued against is that the number 1 problem long term is going to be over-population, so if any government is serious, they should stop all child benefits after the third child (unless 3 & 4 just happen to be twins).
That will no doubt upset some, 'their human rights are more important than saving the planet', but those extra kids are going to gobble up the dwindling resources and cause the pollution, directly or indirectly - as will the following generation(s).

Possibly. The latest method which is promoted as being more enviromentally friendly is aquamation.

Remember that the New Zealand government is in full compliance with the agenda of the emerging world government in the form of the United Nations. New Zealand has been a Member State of the United Nations since 1945!
Keep in mind that it's not "your" government, but the UN's. It's for the UN's dictates (e.g. Agenda 21) that NZ is lapdogging.
No more LPG is truly the least of the coming horrors.

And Cindy is one of the lizard people.
And the UN faked the US elections
And chemtrails alter our minds
And Bill Gates has put microchips in the Covid vaccines
And.

The low flow shower heads increase the pressure of the water as they restrict the flow, so you get a better shower for less water. Sort of like when you put your finger over the end of the garden hose, rather than dribbling out, it sprays out.

Iwouldnt worry about it dont start getting rid of your gas appliances when National regain power in 2013 things will return to normal .
joanie32,
Feb 10, 11:55pm
. and high pressure/ low flow is crap for washing hair or when you’ve got yourself really dirty.
Like watering a garden, high flow is what you need for saturation.

Life is going backwards for National Supporters . REgaining power in 2013 ? No hope at all .

Not so, this chap gets real dirty from doing a lot of construction, and has no issues with a low flow one:
Relax people. It's not like you are going to wake up tomorrow and not be allowed to have a BBQ. They are PROPOSING that 1/there will be no new gas connections from 2025. If you are building a new house - easy, just connect electricity not gas. And 2/ Gas for heating, cooking and heating water to be banned from 2050 which is ages away and gives people 29 years to sort it out.
tygertung,
Feb 11, 11:15pm
I don't think gas BBQs are ever going to be banned, it is just gas connections to houses which are being phased out, so if your house already has one, it is no problem for you.

The REASON the government wants to get rid of gas is because they wrongly believe that the Greens are telling the scientific truth about climate change, when in fact they are telling lies or misinformation. NZ doesn't have enough hydro and geothermal power (again because of opposition from the Greens) to cater for peak time power use. Wind and solar generate very little power - look here: https://www.transpower.co.nz/power-system-live-data

I don’t know that bloke
I know everyone that uses showers in my place though
Everyone agrees the low flow was pathetic
You spend longer in the shower and never really feel clean.
More water is better
It’s not rocket surgery.
oh_hunnihunni,

So perhaps we need more?
oh_hunnihunni,
Feb 12, 1:31am
Sheesh. I use a low flow shower daily. I'm clean. Doesn't need a lot of water if you know how to use one efficiently.
Maybe I should pop round and supervise.

More dumb ideas from the government?
My job title used to include the words “energy” and “efficiency”
The government used to have a goal of increasing efficiency to reduce demand.
Now their goal seems to be to appear to be doing a lot, without really knowing if what they are doing is having a good/bad/no effect at all.
It’s sad to watch them undoing the good work that was happening
oh_hunnihunni,
Feb 12, 2:10am
What good work was that then? Lowering water standards to 'wadable'? Increasing load limits on our roads? Boosting property values by increasing homelessness? Promoting water sales to offshore interests?
If we're going political.

Have you forgotten what the subject being discussed was?
It’s about LPG and ENERGY
ECCA was doing some very innovative and intelligent work, particularly regarding industrial applications
Thanks for that Betty. I didnt see the news item about this, but Ive heard plenty of people moaning about it since,, all saying all gas connections are being banned from 2025. I didnt see how that could happen so quickly. Just another case of people not reading or listening properly. and spreading false information.
