Tree removal question (+ stump).

Approx 25 foot tall oak, 50 cm approx across base. Easy access but next to a wall on inside. Any "rough" ideas of removal and stump grind costs. Thanks.
PS: Not mine but a neighbours who wants me to pay if removed as it blocks my views (not his).

So did you ask for it's removal. If not then he is trying it on just so he won't have to pay. Tree removal does not come cheap and wild guess here but in vicinity of $600. Our arborist charges $1600 a day for two operators and a chipper and stump grinding extra.

See if you can find an arbourist (or even someone you know) to cut down the Oak & take away the wood as part payment to keep costs down.

From our experience: we've had four trees removed and their costs ranged from 2x boxes of beer to about $1,000! Also had three stumps ground for about $600 total, costs will depend on site access, ease or removal & time taken.

Guess the question is how much do you want that view?

Wow that an expensive 2 man crew! Closer to what most 3 man crews charge in the major cities.
But 600 sounds about right for the tree, probably about half that for the stumpgrind, but its all about the tree postion to other things and access out that counts for the cost.

Thanks for all replies.
I asked the man over the phone for it removing years ago and was "hung-up" on. Now the lady is in favour of it removing but it "appears" to be 50% on their section 50% Rotorua Council berm - whose only input is to say they will pay nowt - but insist one of their chosen arborists to do the job. Typical RDC.
Other neighbours nearby would also like it gone but NOT offering to contribute. Pack of assholes near here.
With the council dictating who does the job I will have to pay more than I could possibly get it done for. I love the view, that tree is only a part of it so may bite the bullet and live with it.

Get rid of it as soon as possible. Oaks become giants. They are beautiful gorgeous trees best on farms or big estates, not our piddly backyard. I had some good advice from others on this site. Luckily the oak we were removing was still a juvenile but was 6m high. My brother (ex forestry tree pruner) chainsawed it. Was sad but it was too big to relocate. The stump is still there, so will chop into it to help the decay, then plant over it. Are you able to take off some of the branches? There are a lot of forestry workers in Rotorua.

I agree it could easily cost $600. Real shame your neighbour is not being very neighbourly and at least offering something towards the cost of removal. Same with the council. I'd have thought they's contribute something if it is on some of their land? Not very helpful to their ratepayers. We are looking at getting a large willow removed and another one reduced in height. Easy access suburban section but think it will cost close to $1500. Not looking forward to all the mess but trees while very attractive have become too large. The firewood will be good though.
