Matthew doing a wonderful job right now - $575 for 5 trees. Very reasonable.

better still, job complete and was only $460. Absolutely thrilled with job.

I'd be very surprised if they were protected, since they're not native. Horrible trees that grow incredibly high and keep dropping those leaves/spines or whatever they are.

How small were they :-D

midgetmum, Jan 28, 8:33pm
They were about 20 years old and were very TALL. Were chopped down in sections because of the uncertainty of where they would fall. Two were close to boundary fences as well.

gosh, that was cheap !

They were just cut down and we will remove the trees, branches etc ourselves. There is only a walking track down to the trees and would be too difficult to get anything in except for a wheelbarrow!

Arborist would know exactly where they would fall, but if there wasn't enough space to lay them down cleanly, they would certainly take them down in sections.

20 years old wouldn't be that big, look at them after ~100 years. But big enough to justify getting a professional to deal to them for sure.

Doing your own clean up will save a lot too. Getting it on the ground is usually the easy part. Dragging the brush and firewood out is hard work ;-)

Do you reckon he would travel to Auckland? We have 2x50 year old Norfolk pines we would love to get rid of

My Brother had a Norfolk pine he wanted to get rid of. One day we were out together miles away from his place and I pointed them out to him. Once he realised it was a landmark he felt quite differently about it and let it be.
