*** Am I in big trouble ? ***

needs to be taken out and coin removed, then repair bent blades if need be. shouldnt be a problem for you to do. Its quite simple. Also remember the reset button underneath. If it doesnt have a reset its probably a crap brand

Id suggest replace in that case

I have removed stuff from an i sinkerator using thosespring loaded salad spoons or some blue tac on the end of a stick. As gabby says some tiny hands can get down there.

Have accidently dropped a coin down the insinkerator. Horrible noise when I switched in on.
Can see the coin but can't grab it. Any way to get it out or is it a job for a service man!
Thanks

Usually not too bad.

1.) Switch it off and unplug it
2.) Disconnect it from the u-bend underneath it (unscrew the collar) and remove the dishwasher inlet if there is one.
3.) There'll be a trick clippy thing at the top that attaches it to the sink waste.Sometimes this is a collar you rotate a bit, sometimes a wire hooky thing.See if you can see what you turn or tweak to release the unit.
4.) Now it's completely separated from the sink, you can turn it upside down and muck about until you can remove the coin.
5.) Reinstallation is the reverse of the above procedure (as Haynes always says)

THANK YOU tillsbury. Will give that a go in the morning.

tillsbury, Dec 30, 9:05am
Oh, and if you've had it switched on making the noise it might have tripped out. There will be a reset switch on the bottom of the insinkerator somewhere that you'll need to press if it doesn't work when you plug it back in.

How NOT to remove said coin safely:
1. Run hot tap
2. Switch insinkerator on
3. Make sure you are holding both a small child and a long pointy metal stick
4. Insert long pointy metal stick into running insinkerator
5. Long pointy metal stick jams insinkerator
6. Find your own hand too big to fit through jammed blades
7. Use your small child's hand to reach through jammed blades to retrieve coin - You're now thinking "Aha! Success!"
8. Small child's hand dislodges long pointy metal stick and insinkerator starts up again
9. Call 111. And the small child's parents. And a repairman to remove the long pointy metal stick.
10. Be thankful that you will never again be asked to look after small children.

If you switch it off at the wall can you use one of those magnets on a long handle!

arabelle, Dec 30, 6:49pm
dont think money is magnetic. its made of toy metal

taipan4, Dec 30, 7:11pm
Actually some of our coins are what is called "clad" that is they are steel & electroplatedwith a copper or silver like metal, magneticcoins are
10c 20c 50c .Non magnetic $1.00 & $2.00 just tried all these on a magnet, so beleive it or not.

taipan4, Dec 30, 7:13pm
If coin is 10c 20c or 50c it will be magnetic ,

standard, Dec 30, 8:22pm

gabbysnana, Dec 30, 11:45pm
your hand actually fits in the hole, have you not tried it, if you can see it you can get it out. just turn the power off first.

elect70, Dec 31, 4:35am

pestri, Dec 31, 4:52am
` Long nose pliers.

tech_import, Dec 31, 5:15am
should be able to pull the rubber out of the plug hole and put your whole hand down there to pick it up.

TURN OFF AT POWER FIRST lol

We can see the penny and can touch the edge of it but 7/8ths of it is jammed tight down on the side
