Frangipani

vomo2, Oct 31, 4:24pm
My young potted frangipani dropped its leaves months ago and no sign of new ones. I was told to put it inside from April to October which I did. What should it be looking like?

I grew plumerias as we called them when living in Texas. Each fall we would put them in the shed. During their time in there they would shed leaves as well as plumping up their seed pods. We ensured they had some watering during this hibernation perod though many say don't water! I wouldn't worry too much at this time.

My avocadoes drop leaves here. One is sprouting new leaves the other is just sitting there presently,

In Auckland ours is outside all year, and is only just starting to show some unfurling on the ends of the branches.

Mine doesn't usually sprout new leaves until early December.

Mine are outside all year they all have new leaves.
I was told to put against brick wall as they love the heat.

Mine are also under eaves against light brick wall, outside all year around, and showing vigorous leaf growth now.

Our 3 plants all have leaves, albeit small, but now that I have applied fertiliser and rain is due they will thrive.

Ours is about 20 metres high and the tuis love it, heaps of flowers and the most heavenly smell in the evening.

Bryshaw - 20 meters is almost 70 feet in old terms, maybe you have kauri instead?

You could be right, but it is a big tree.
