just a follow up for tmenz - today I had the local aerial specialist round - the mesh part of the aerial hadn't been changed when the freeview box was installed (apparently Wairarapa is one of the few places you need to do this) but as it had been done by a friend who lives in CHC and was visiting - he wouldn't have known that. So we switched the aerial around and took the old bits off but although we got good enough on most channels, Prime and Choice were not so good. So, we decided to update the aerial. Better but not brilliant (according to the installer) but a whole lot better than I had been experiencing. He walked the length of the roof and decided that we'd be better to relocate the whole thing. So, having had a huge vet bill this week already - I'm happy to postpone that for the time being and start filling the coffers a trifle more before tackling that one! So thanks, once again - at least I'll be able to watch most things during the winter months.

Popoiti is horizontally polarised (according to Radio Spectrum website), as the antenna is installed in your photographs, so I'm confused by your first few sentences.
