I've read this so many times, thought I'd remember, but did I, of course not.
Help please, just one little sticky label that looks awful on a glass vase

An oil based liquid will probably work unless its very old .Then you will have to get some label remover from a stationary outlet

De.sol.it. Is the brandname
I find this product good but very expensive. So I use chemico and a green potscrubber, which also works.

I use an aerosol which doesn't disolve some plastic surfaces as well, but it cost $27 a tin

Eucalyptus oil works a treat and its cheap from the supermarket.

Isopropyl alcohol is good for removing label gum. Mitre10 or Bunnings have it - around $10 for a litre.

If the label is dry you can fill the vase with hot water to allow the glue to warm up, then the label will pull off easily, any remainig adhesive can be removed with the above methods.

When I built my current house it was ridiculous how many sticky labels we had to pull off.
Every appliance, piece of plumbing etc had one or more bloody labels telling me something I either dont need to know or stating the obvious.
When I build my next one i think i will make it a condition of purchas on all expensive items that they come with no labels.

cleggyboy, Mar 4, 7:48am
Yep when we get this we should be able to get a discount on the grounds of shop soiled. Especially if it is labels that the shop has stuck on them.

Oops confused myself. It is Fuelite which I usually use. https://www.mitre10.co.nz/shop/andrew-fuelite-1-litre-clear/p/362007 Not sure what I use the other stuff for - cleaning video player heads once upon a time I think.

max.headroom, Mar 4, 2:45pm

cwag, Mar 5, 11:16am

Rub with a bit of peanut butter

colin433, Mar 6, 9:59am
the onbly option I had on hand, so have rubbed it on, now what do I do. It's not peeling off immediately, but I guess it has to have time to work.
Sits here hoping

colin433, Mar 6, 10:01am
totally agree. Appliances and such should come in the original box, with nothing added, especially sticky labels. You should have complained, asked for a refund.

onl_148, Mar 6, 12:29pm
CRC make and sell an aerosol product that is call "Label Remover" that is designed for the task.
It is used by builders and the like for removing, as previously mentioned, all the sticky labels off the windows, appliances, baths, showers etc of a new house. The CRC stuff is lemon based, or at least has a lemon smell.

Don't worry about other crap, just get Desolvit and your sticky sticker issues will be solved for ever.

paora-tm, Mar 6, 10:33pm
