How much have you got cos not hard to remove manually and will be controled much quicker than with herbicide, WJ requires some fairly potent herbicides. Just roll carpet of it up and dispose of that way, then go back and rake up the small pieces left behind.

We have found Triclo to be best for wandering jew - I spray a lot of it for my job, you can buy at RD1 or Farmlands, or cheaper online
use product withactive ingredient Tryclophyr, brand names are grazon and I think victory. Also most woody weed killer products contain that ingredient.

It seems to prefer shady places so I guess one option is to try to make the area more open and sunny. I have wandering jew and other weeds coming through from railway land onto my section and it's infuriating as it keeps coming through and as yet I haven't been able to persuade "them" to do something about it.

venna2 - why dont you take it into your own handsand create a barren "no-weeds" 1 metre border on the other side of your fence so that you can see when ever an "intruder" starts to creep towards your property. Probably only take a couple of hours work and $10 worth of weedkiller. Then you can dump your grass clippings (if you have them) on it to further keep it at bay

Ours is coming through from the neighbours also!Thought a no-weed line was only practical solution as they don't do anything about it, it's at a bach.

You can also hit it with Watkins weed killer it contains glyphosate but you will probably need more than one application to completely eradticate.

apparently the new roundup gel works well too . we've got it by the tonne.horrible stuff.Just spent $100 at the vet, getting the dog treated after he got 'burned' by it.Damn neighbours who let their weeds go nuts.

So true. Mine love it but I have had to discourage all my neighbours who have it from throwing it in to my ladies, they can get too much of a good thing.lol. Silly me for telling them the chooks like it.

I have had great sucess with boiling water over it and then this year I put carpet over it and it just died off.
My neighbour however eats it. she loves the stuff. Yucky

A wandering Arab usually upsets it

Rake it into rolls, then feed to the cows

I'm afraid it would almost certainly take over the wandering Arab too.

Good idea but the railway land beyond my section slopes steeply and there's a storm water drain also choked with weeds there, so I don't really fancy getting over the high mesh fence and staggering about in there. I dump grass clippings, punga fronds and the like on my side of the fence but the weeds quickly come through again in spite of that, making it even worse. Sometimes I think I'll just ignore it, especially as I can't see this area from the house. But when I have the energy and time I shall tackle the 'powers that be' once more.

Hop the fence and spray it yourself.

How about climbing a ladder and just spraying the stuff. I have had excellent results using "Ultimate" which has Met Sulphuron as its active ingredient.Has residual of about 4 months tho.

Rake it up firstly, then spray the ground with Roundup. If spraying green leaves, put a little dish detergent in the sprayer to help sprays penetrate gloss leaves.

Why should I risk breaking a leg or falling in the drain, not to mention using my own money, on trying to control weeds that are not mine!

I have it growing through and upwards in a Pittosporum hedge.Knowing Pittosporum is very sensisitive to most sprays, it there one that might be safe to use in close proximity.
