Finally got return forms today, so have sent it back. Cannot actually wait to get one to use it.

+1 for biscuit joiner, you get a hidden joint that's far stronger than using a couple of screws, there's a reason why the industry has used them for years. IMO a "joiner jig" is a shortcut for not bring able drill and screw straight!
It's like someone let you unwrap a present, touch it, but now all you can do is look at it

I'll be the first to admit I can't screw straight lol. Not with an impact driver anyway, drill I'm sweet with but give me an impact driver and I don't have enough control.
We don't need something ultra strong (strong yes, but not ultra strong!) it's just for DIY projects around the house, not like we are tradies. So I am happy with the choice for join a jig.

I didn't intend to have a go at you with my post, I'm 100% supportive of DIY. Welcome to the highly addictive world of buying man-cave toys!

I'm the wife, have a wee bit of knowledge! lol. Both my father, and hubbys father are qualified builders. But hubby is happy that I like to get in there and do it with him, some hobby we can do together. Huybby has plenty of man cave toys, too many LOL.

New join a jig arrived. MUCH happier. slides easier, and there were no scratch marks on the bar, I am positive the one we got first had been used. Cannot wait to use it this weekend! Laundry cupboards, here we come.

I never thought about doing a rebate with a biscuit joiner. Clever

What do the special screws cost?

Just pan head screws. Not really any difference between those and self tapping etc I'm pretty sure

Finally got to use it today! Oh how I love it. Had 4 sets of 5 to drill, I only let hubby do 1 set as I wanted to do the rest. So he buggered off and left me to it! So very very happy with how it works. Gives lovely even pockets, even with using the mini jig where we couldn't use the main jig.
Trying to work out what else I can do now.
