People can't undo my gate latch

can they see it or only feel it!

panicky, Oct 20, 7:14pm
We have both a ding dong bell and an actual bell at our front door, but for some reason people knock, like I am going to hear that down the other end of the house.

eajo1mbwass, Oct 20, 7:17pm
some times putting a string threw it so it is easier to pull it up to open would help

trade4us2, Oct 20, 7:20pm
I think he can't see the gate. It does match the fence rather well!
But why doesn't he assume there is a gate (there are two gates) and just look for it, like everybody else!

leighfrancesca, Oct 20, 7:20pm
It's not a gate latch - it's an IQ test and unfortunately your meter reader is failing miserably.I would suggest drawing pictorial instructions onto your gate using crayon to aid your meter reader.

kateley, Oct 20, 7:22pm
you could make him a trail of breadcrumbs leading up to the gate

trade4us2, Oct 20, 7:25pm
Can anyone see the two gates!

Hint - the pedestrian gate is between the two knobby things!

kp11, Oct 20, 8:13pm
Thats a rather nice fence!Simple design but elegant.Maybe a small welcome sign on the pedestrian gate bit would help!

trade4us2, Oct 20, 8:37pm
Thanks. I designed it myself. Perhaps there could be a sign saying "Entry" on the right of the small gate. The big gate slides to the right entirely behind the fence. But only I will be opening that.

ngacooky, Oct 20, 9:24pm
i would of thought it was obvious where the gate is. How hard is it to look over the fence to find the latch!Maybe you should spray paint the latchbright pink so he can find it

lythande1, Oct 21, 5:53am
Looks simple enough to me.

russ18, Oct 21, 5:56am
Is there a path on the other side of the gate! looks like long grass and leaves and stuff.

arabelle, Oct 21, 5:59am
Send a picture that has the enter here typed in to your power company. or ph and organise a time for the meter reader to explain their lo IQ

dibble35, Oct 21, 6:30am
To be quite honest it isnt immediatley obvious where the smaller gate is. as a previous poster said from the photo it looks like long grass beind it so doesnt look like a path or anything. Why not put a entry sign on it for a few months till the meter reader has it sussed how to get in.

pandaeye, Oct 21, 7:01am
that's what happens when natural selection is not allowed to follow it's course.

nitpnz, Oct 21, 7:20am
you could perhaps put the catch-latch thingie on the outside of the gate, ooopsMAYBE THEN he'd be unable to get out!

evil thought: Is the meter reader staying at home instead of reading meters!

aredwood, Oct 21, 7:30am
Why not switch power companies to one that instals smart meters! No meter readers ever again. Genesis, Pulse energy, and Mercury All install smart meter AFAIK.

flier3, Oct 21, 7:50am
Question:Do other people have difficulty opening the latch!

les6, Oct 21, 9:38am
you`re not telling us about the big dog hiding in the bushes!,people that are that dumb but still able to walk amaze me!

wotz_it_2_ya, Oct 21, 10:09am
The only reason they install them is to screw more cash out of you.

amasser, Oct 21, 10:57am
Ask the meter reader when he/she is next due and leave the gate open or be at home then. You might find that someone has been fibbing.

elect70, Oct 21, 11:37am
I have same on inside of mysolid panel gateswith hole to put hand through, ascant seebehind it, it keeps door knockers & god botherers out, meter guy knows which houses have dogs

761, Oct 21, 3:36pm
never ceases to amaze me why people have to have a fancycatch on their gateall i have ever had is a staple and a bit of no 8 wire simple and effective

dezzie, Oct 21, 3:37pm
Now the path is there, its pretty obvious its leading to somewhere, so its not problems with the gate latch, more problems with actually finding the latch to open it!

hutchk, Oct 21, 4:34pm
I had one of those latches once. I also found some doofuses couldn't work it. It was a most excellent latch.
