Help - Cockroachs inside

ben-sophie, Jan 5, 9:09am
I have had some cockroaches throught the winter but with the nicer weather they had stayed outside.
Lastnight there were 3 really big ones in the house. one had stripes across the back.
Any ideas what would have brought them back inside and also how to
keep them out.

Did you use the attractant on it!

"The trap is coated with 'dry-touch, no-mess' glue and is ready to use with the food based attractant tablet on the glue surface."

The only thing that work good is BV2 from bunnings or mega $30 But its good. do around your fridge motor oven ect any where is is warm even the microwave back light is enough to keep the little buggers warm. They can be a big problem if you dont sort it.

We had a place th at was crawling. After cleaning up the back yard which had been used as a compost bin, there were very few left. We sprayed around all of the windows outside as this stopped them coming in. Then we did inside. The neighbours loved us as their problems stopped too.

We have bark grounds all around our house directly under all the windows. So cockroaches are an all year round problem here. I use a very strong solution of ripcord which I get from Bunnings/Warehouse/Mitre 10 etc.I do all around the outside of the house & inside around all the window ledges.I repeat a week or so later. It normally last 6-8 mths before we see the odd one again. Ripcord is the only thing I have found that has worked so far.

Which sort!
The native ones - which do not infest like the kitchen sort - are harmless, they come in when it's wet out. Let them go.
The food infestation ones are another matter and you first need to thoroughly clean every last speck of the entire room, then get a pest control person in, no messing about with home products.

It took four years for us to be able to say we hadn't seen a cockroach all winter. When we arrived here to cockroach heaven we would catch at least one a night. We used a tissue, caught it and dropped it down the toilet.
The neighbours had moved a shed that was on our boundary and we were invaded by disorientated cockies. We even put screen doors in every room that had a door to the outside. Not nice to wake up to cockroach feelers brushing your face.
The ones we have are about the length of the POST MESSAGE sign below, and twice as wide. Black, and Brown, probably different sexes.
One thing, they are easy to catch.

Cockroaches like to get inside paper in your letterbox and you bring them inside. So shake the paper outside.

They sound like they might be 'bush roaches'. If they are, harmless. Chuck 'em back outside

We have an 18 month old house. Have had quite a few inside since moving in (the big black ones I'm talking about). We also have had a way more than comfortable number of whitetail spiders so a month ago had the house sprayed by a commercial bug man. Absolutely none of any nasties seen since. Best money we ever spent for peace of mind. We have 8 sliding doors and I am certain they were entering the living area through the slider cavities which give clear access to inside walls and roof

native roaches are fine - they usually come in with wood (so I've found). but other roaches are a different story. Don't waste your time buying crappy products, get a pest controller in, they've got 'magic' stuff - my cousin does it, he puts a pea sized blob on the floor, and it brings roaches out of hiding instantly - can be quite distressing for those who didn't realize to what extent their infestation was!they eat it, and die - simple and cheap at around $30
