We have a 10 meter long clothesline (from post to post) that runs east to west on the south side of our house.about 3m from the house. the posts are around 6ft high and about a metre apart at each end. Could we plant raspberries along this (and how many)! What about boysenberries! grapes!

Will you get any sun on them if its the south side of the house! They will need at least 1/2 a day of sun, probably more. Raspberries iwould plant 1m apart and they will soon fill in any gaps, they sucker everywhere. Boysenberriy, well the one i have is a really rampent grower, so I would plant 2 in your 10m gap. I've got both planted and the boysenberry is providing tonnes of fruit, raspberries not so much. Grapes will need lots of sun.

Raspberries, yes no problem. Grapes, you could, but it's better to plant them were they get full sun.

they will get a reasonable amount of sun.there's enough clearance from the house. Will it work planting them in tyres do you think!

What, to stop the rasprerries suckering! Probably not, but with mine i just have them planted up against the fence and mow over any suckers that come up in the grass to far out from the plant. I'd go for it then with the raspberries and/or boysenberries. You should also make it so that you can cover them with bird netting when they start to fruit.

thought so - that's how my one is.it's canes, but they self support, unlike boysenberries.

We can tie them to the clotheseline above.and we plan to enclose the whole area in bird netting.

any suggestions on varieties.ones with not too many prickles for the kiddies to get stabbed on.
