Help needed with range-hood (Ouch, my poor head!)

I keep hitting my head on our stainless steel kitchen range-hood.

Is there any product I could attach to the corner of our range-hood. Just to minimize the damage. Perhaps a small piece of rubber or flexible plastic? Perhaps by gluing or screwing?

This must be a common problem. I can't be the only victim of a range-hood!

Thanks in advance.

Or do the whole perimeter with something like this.

I used a similar but cream colour foam rubber version, to do shelf edge above front seats in bus, that i was constantly finding with my head.
Not sure where i got it, but glue strip supplied was rubbish, feel off every hot day, so used contact glue to refit.

The Bunnings ones only take a couple of days to fall off. Double-sided tape no better. Yet to try contact glue.

Is it at the right height? Manufacturers instructions for most range hoods specify a minimum of 615 mm above the hob.

615 doesn't give you much height. Ours is 750mm above hob which places it about chin height for me.

Range hood rage here too, its fitted at the maximum legal height - which is perfect to hit me right in the middle of my forehead.

re #4
this is the one i used, also bunnings.
But remember, you're wasting your time trying supplied with it roll of not sticky strip(especially in hot conditions) , glue it first try(exception being for temporary only install), or buy a roll of "quality double sided sticky tape", likely most outdoor rated stuff would work.
And clean with thinners/alcohol/meths etc first would be best, being a fat attracting range hood.

Thanks. I'm wondering if they will stick to stainless steel?

Perhaps installers should include a packet with the range-hood?

Most Range Hoods I have installed are higher than what this one sounds to be . Normally 750mm to 850mm above top of stove .

The steel is not the problem. So far I've found the plastic harder to get a good bond to. Typically the adhesive strip is stuck to the rangehood and the buffer lies on the floor.

Same with my shelf, "most" of tape supplied still stuck to it, but foam buffer on the floor.
IMO its mostly due to it being a very thin sellotape type of double sided tape supplied, and needs to be foam type instead, so it compress into surface shapes for a better grip to both.

I’m tall so had installer mount it higher.
Still worked great.

Range-hood installers thought we were putting it too high, but they wanted to have it so low I would need to bend to get under it (and I'm only 5' 2"), let alone Mr Orchid. Saw a bloke on an English telly programme the other day bend every time he went to stir the pot. Ridiculous. How much to get it remounted at a sensible height?

. Lol. This is my husband. You’d think he’d remember by now after about 15 years doing the same thing. I’m only 5ft so no such problem for me.
