Flies . no dead bodies!

This summer flies are shocking at our place. It's too humid to have the doors shut all the time. Please share your methods of dealing with flies. Do those automatic spray dispensers work, if so what type do you have! All fly solutions welcomed!

We have had an Ecomist for eight years, uses three cans a year, now$21and SIX AA batteries. No fliesant or cockroach to be seen in spite of dogs cats and other animals hanging around. Far better than continualy looking for the spray can. You would not know it is working away only an occasional click if you listen realy hard.

Don't like chemicals. Bought some flypaper, so far it's doing an excellent job.

Ecomist sounds wonderful, i've got one of those ones from the supermarket. we still get quite a few flies, but when it ran out for a few days the flies got really bad. I blame it on others in the household putting fish and meat scraps in the compost, encourages flies-maggots-more flies, but no matter how many times i say dont do it they still end up in there. Anyhow, i was thinking of getting those plastic strips that dangle over the doors, they've gotta help surely.

I got some of that fly paper last summer, you're right it did do a great job, however everyone else was grossed out by the hundreds of flies hanging from the kitchen ceiling.LOL I still remember it hanging inmy Grandparents place. old fashioned but effective. as long with the plastic hanging strips over the doors they didnt seem to have the flies like we do today

I use the strips in the garage & between the garage & laundry.
Elsewhere I use Robocan. One above the back door, in kitchen & between the din ing room & lounge.

If you have space in your freezer, keep your meaty scraps/bones and fish bits that end up in your compost or bin, in a large self sealing plastic bag then put it out in the bin on rubbish collection day. Add to it daily as you have stuff that will attract flies. Just a little retraining required but saves a lot of stink, flies and maggots

Tired of the fail rate of pyrethroid sprays I decided a little sport would cure my blood lust.I hunt flies with a battery operated zapper bat.Great result if the batteries aren't flat.Nothing like the smell of burning flies! They stay attached to the bat sparking away until I cast their electrocuted bodies out to the spiders or other bugs that don't dare come in passed the insecticide barrier around my windows and doors.
