Customers unhappy with service can tell a lot of people, some say up to 20 is common. And those told might tell others. Not a bad idea especially in a small town! Just be careful what is said, keep it factual.

Wait till he comes out on his crutches then start shortening them with a disc grinder, an inch at a time till he falls over or pays.

Ya can't reposess as that amounts to theft. The issue is what was agreed and when will he pay it.

I'd say Baycorp for sure - the mention of them may work wonders.

If you still have the code to the remote control, reset another control & drive by randomly & open & shut, & open the garage door.

Frankly it sounds like this is a common stunt this guy pulls.
In your shoes I would simply remove the item concerned and walk away.

Sounds like he needs a blood clot to the head so that they cut that off

Back in the early 80's when I was a young buck, I had one client that owed me $800 for 3 months. As I was young I'd go out partying on a Saturday night so after 3 months, I started phoning him when I got home at 2am.
Each time he'd be angry and say the cheque was in the mail.
After week 3 , i got the cheque.
Problem solved

Just go and rip it out. if you take that sort of crap from people, all your ever going to get is crap.

clicketyclick1, May 17, 3:53am
That can work both ways, especially in a small town. OP should mention this to any other tradesmen he knows.

smallwoods, May 17, 6:25am
You can if stated on the invoice.
I have done it to only one customer in 28 yrs.

Has problem with business owner so dumps dirt on council owned footpath. How did that end?

hesian, May 19, 10:28pm
Best keep it legal. Small claims and then debt collectors. You don't want to get over stressed yourself and end up ill. Could do Fair Go who are always eager to deal with naughty tradesmen but I think they will also support tradesmen who are cheated and it would put a nice slant on their programme. This would have him at the very least with his face on TV and a record to safeguard others. I really like the idea of revenge but as the saying says it is best served cold. Clever and not illegal.

A local earthmoving contractor wasnt paid for developing a house site. He returned and put deep rippers thru the site, apparently rendering it useless, and then dug out and removed the entrance way culvert on departing.

Get a big concrete block, like real big, paint "this dude doesn't pay his bills, do not do work for this fellow", and drop it on his berm in the night.

See how old one leg jim gets on getting somebody to move it for him.

Get some big mates to go see him.

vivac, May 27, 4:49am
Was in his carparks not the foot path.
I would say he still didnt get paid but it would have been pretty satisfying.

Itoo was in business for 30 years & had several bad debts . Alot of the jobs were service jobs no quotes just fix it . For $900 take him to disputes keep record of all dealings with him . . For some I had to use couple biker guys in full kit to persuade them to pay .up . Dont bother with debt collectors they are useless & just collect fees from you without actually getting the debt paid

Romalpa clause might apply but better to have had it in writing.
