not to sure. 40w relates to filiment bulbs, ie heat. i think the issue will be that its e27 base and can you get led bulbs bright enough in that format. quick look showed 8w led bulbs which i would think be not be enough light unless your using five in one room.

Hmmm. I did ask before I brought them, but having a think maybe not.
There weren’t many options for hanging lights that were open like that. Have two days to take them back if not suitable.

On the link you can see the suggested bulbs, I don’t want massive light in the bedroom but want to be able to see stuff!

The bulb on the right of that row of 4 suggested bulbs has any amount of light for a bedroom, it's equivalent to around a 100 watt old fashioned filament bulb. I'd get something that that works on a dimmer and fit the bedroom with said dimmer then you can have it at any level you choose.

Main bedroom already has dimmer installed. Do you think these will be okay in general. Bit worried now and unsure! Lots of money to get wrong, I’d like different style bulb to the end one ideally but not sure if I can

You can get led bulbs for that. however NZ has such a poor range of light fittings. I bought my last ones from the UK off ebay - a dealer ad. Gorgeous, perfect and cheap too, far cheaper, inc shipping than you can buy here.

Ceiling lights shouldn't be bright. Use brighter task lighting, table lampss, reading lights, bedsides etc for that. Much more restful on the eyes, and kinder to the living environment. Ceiling lights should be rarely used.

i do, just now and then like to have it bright enough when cleaning etc. not often and there is a dimmer there just like the option

The reference to a dimmer was make sure if you buy a LED make sure it is dimmable. A lot won’t work with a dimmer. Also a lot of old style dimmers won’t work well with LED’s

As above, the 12w led will give a good light, i have used same but 9wt,ones

A 15W LED light will give an equivalent amount of light to a 100W old school bulb.

Agree, it's a nightmare trying to buy anything nice here. One shop in Dunedin is very good, they stock a range of books with overseas fittings you can order from, but very expensive. NZ shops order such boring stuff, it's frustrating! I'll have a look on ebay myself, didn't think of that.

I guessing or hoping you checked they are up to NZ standard spec otherwise your insurance is null and void.

Buying light fittings or indeed any electrical equipment that will be permanently connected to your electrical supply is a BIG BIG no no, unless it has been stickered with a NZ standards cert, as when your house burns down and its traced to that light fitting you bought cheap off the internet, sorry mate no insurance, but maybe I,m the only KIWI that likes to support their electrical wholesaler, CASE in point most wholesalers will have a "bible" of light fittings that you dont normally see in so called lighting specialists and will order in for you.

Hope you told your insurance company, UK standards not same as here, probably made in China anyway.

agree so many shops here all selling the same, all industrial look I managed to find some chandeliers as I also have 3m ceilings so needed something that hangs on line from a UK site loads of choices, I have cnanderliers in most rooms 5 light ones in lounge, dining and kitchen 3 light ones in the bedrooms match the old cast iron beds

Have a Chandalier in one now, not my style.
The ones I got aren’t entirely either but little options and found the wood warmer than black industrial.
