Hi all, I have some rubber grip on some older (90's) car pedals which has aged and lost its grip a bit. Not a total loss but a little shiney/slippery.
Is there any ways/tips/products/DIY hacks that can help restore it?
Have tried to buff with sandpaper etc but not a gret help

Can you not buy new ones, and glue them in place?

Try a local car breakers (if you have one) as there may well be some around in better condition.
Cheapskate - simply buy a thin rubber floor mat with a grip surface and cut to shape.
Clean the existing rubber with thinners, or petrol, (it may soften the rubber!) apply contact adhesive and glue on the new.
Or, skip that and remove the old rubbers and simply glue to the metal of the pedal.
However, the rubber will be so much softer than the original and may not last long, so better to replace as per Hunni's suggestion.

Thanks both of you, unfortunately no longer available and like hens teeth to find used ones here.
They are a moulded shape so may have to try those or look at importing a pricey used ste from overseas to replace.
Thanks

You can cut these to fit with a stanley knife or other sharp blade.
Even doing half a pedal face helps - as I learned on our old Land Rover!

Self adhesive sand paper, go for an 80 grit. Then you can take your shoes off and sort out those corns at the same time.

What sort of car most 90's parts are still available if you know where to look for them . I am getting rubber for a mid 70's car with no probems

Mid 90’s WRX - the STi factory metal racing pedals, no longer in production, and can’t buy replacement rubber pad sets.
Very hard to find here at all, let alone in good condition. Sometimes available new overseas for big money.

Have you asked in Motoring. they may have an idea of where to find a secret stash of these or have some tips to restore the ones you have. Also put a search on here. you never know. Also make yourself known to wreckers.
Ask on Freecycle. Ask on Neighbourly.
Good luck!
