Is it worthwhile repainting colour steel if the colour is fading or if another colour is wanted? or is it better just to put on another coloursteel roof.

I painted my color steel gutters from a faded light blue to Resene "All Black" Looks good, and a year on hasn't got any defects.
I guess it depends on the condition of your roofing and the price difference between the options.

just ask yourself if youd rather spend 1-2000 repainting it or 12-18000 to re-roof it

Yep, as long as the roof is in good nick.

When you refer to "colour steel" are you talking about the brand colour steel and the product they sell or as a general name for all the various steel roofing product that are supplied ex-factory already coloured ?

Ours was repainted under warranty as it faded! Been a good few years now and seems has stood the test of time.

It is able to be painted. I think there is a special primer - Resene Pre-Coloured Steel Primer - that is used prior to painting. But I am not sure whether that is for new shiny powder coated metal which may be different to old faded, chalky powder coated metal.

Ours was repainted because it was faded too but too late for warranty. It still looks good a few years later.

$18,000? That'd be on a 400m3 house I assume.
