How much is to much

For renovating a home as far as noise is concerned, over a year and counting for basic renovations and the saw is still buzzing in the driveway every single day, now they complain about music during noise hours with no base and not that loud, about a quater volume or lower, a door got left open for a short while enough for them to here it and they yell over the fence, i actualy have it going to drown there noise out, do i need to lay a complaint before they do, they seem pritty arrogent i,de be happy to cut the music if they would finally shut up, and they still failed to build the fence they promised us for cutting some trees down to make them happy, so they have full veiw of our yard now to stick there noses in, is excessive noise still illegal if it goes on for long enough during noiose hours, like industrial area type stuff all day every day, and not just a one off or a few months worth for handyman work.

I try to gain the upper hand by holding my tong now, i would have loved to give them a blasting over the fence myself to sort there arrogance out, i just dont feel like being arrested for it.

Yes they can make a noise all day, don't know the hours, something like 7.00/8.00am until 5.00pm not on sunday. You can renovate for as long as you like. There may be a db that they should not go over for too long a period. Talk to your local council.

You should be able to play some loud music to drown out the renovation. Maybe some '90s Happy Hardcore or maybe some Hardstyle, or what about some Hard Trance? All '90s.

yes Gunna-1 talk to the council about the operating hours, noise-wise. As msigg says there are restrictions.

As far as the fence goes the demolition of an existing fence at the very start of as building on a new subdivision seems to be standard operating procedure. They like to have all the neighbouring fences down as it gives them a bit more flexibility for getting vehicles in especially if the new builds are close up to the boundary. I have seen subdivisions like this, where neighbours have had their gardens and the back of their sections exposed, and then last thing the builders whizz round doing all the fences.

I would talk to the Council about this too.

We had a walkway alongside ours, and as street access was challenging we had constant invasions to the path by vehicle drivers who needed to be closer than legally allowed, for the eighteen months it took for them to build the units.

The peace is wonderful, now they're gone.

Thats pretty much what it is, it isnt cannable corps, i dont have it loud you can only here it with the door open and it dosent get played at night, its just a good radiostation that poped up, they complained about it at 4pm, i would be happy to not complain about them if they would leave me alone.

Get a decent recorder and capture the noise. Then play it back at +12dB during their breaks.

Ha ha ha good one, it will get the constant yelling and screaming they do towards there kids outside aswell, brilliant.

Tell them to mind their own business during business hours.
