Just checking with you DIY gurus - Mineral turpentine - can that be used as clean-up for norski epoxy timber sealer and filler? The instructions say to use the special norski brand clean-up but I don't have any - and it seems expensive? https://www.bunnings.co.nz/norski-500ml-epoxy-thinners_p0165292

Never mind - have just seen that acetone is the closest substitute.

Yes, i doubt that turps would be any good

Acetone is tops but you need impermeable gloves if you are in physical contact with it.

It always amazes me that anyone would ask how to circumnavigate the manufacturers instructions. What happens if these 'experiments' gleaned from strangers on a public forum cause an explosion or do some serious damage to your skin? Who is responsible? I can see the ACC people accepting the explanation that the TM forum caused it!

For goodness sake. I looked into it a bit further and found the answer. have even checked the safety data sheets of both and compared them. Thanks anyway.

turps works for some epoxy resins, if resin is still runny, i ve used meths, turps, 91%alcohol, but Acetone is best.and i always use a face msk and gloves.

I think you can even use alcohol as the epoxy is somewhat water based, but nothing will work once it has set.
Don't bother trying to clean any brushes or rollers or anything though, just use disposable ones. It is almost impossible to clean brushes and rollers of epoxy.

Thanks heaps guys. am doing the research and will be careful. Discovered that 'denatured alcohol' is just another name for methylated spirits, so that was helpful too.

Noone is responsible, that's why we have ACC in NZ, so people don't have to go around suing each other.
