My rosemary bush had grown far to big for its location so I have cut it right back to the base. Will it regrow or is it a case of digging out and replanting? Any comments appreciated.

not actually sure. Did you plant some cuttings?

You could plant cuttings but best wait until spring.
Although I see you're in Auckland so now might be fine. I never bother about using rooting compound as they strike easily, even in Wellington.

If you are happy with it being where it is leave it as it will regrow

Thanks for those comments. I will take a bet each! Plant some cuttings and leave it in place to see if it does regrow. I can then decide which is the best option. Thanks folks

I'm 99% sure it will grow again . I reckon any plant that strikes so easily from cuttings, as Rosemary does . likes growing!

I pruned mine back but left a branch with green sprigs on so I still had a source. its taken off in a compact bush form My daughter did a 100% hack and it died. so I think its important to leave a few sprigs so it can breathe and take off again
