stamens from my opened roses?. I have prevented the green fly by under planting with marigolds but now there are blimmin earwigs nibbling the stamens of the opened flowers. Any advise would be much appreciated.

spray around the plant stems with any good fly spray, once it is on their legs they are gone

This honestly works! They love to attack my dahlias and this is how I deal to them. Scrunch up balls of newspaper and place in branches before nightfall, next morning shake the balls into a plastic bag. you'll be amazed by how many you have trapped! Tie off bag and dispose. Replace the newspaper balls. do it a few nights and you should be clear of the blighters.

Yes this does work. I can recall my Grandmother doing it many years ago, but she emptied the newspaper balls into a bowl of very hot water!

Thanks - I'm ready and waiting, balls of newspaper at the ready. let's hope the rain doesn't come before I have a chance to 'empty' them. :-)
