Sellotape residue

katie232, May 19, 6:28pm
I had sellotape on aluminium windows and after removing it have been left with a residue which I cannot remove has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to remove it.

De-Solv-it is the best option. But you could try rubbing with something oil based. Try giving it a good rub with some Peanut Butter.

Meths or kero would remove it.

de-Solv-it is about $30 so will try Meths or Kero or even the Peanut butter thank you for your answers

Eucalyptus oil often works

blans, May 19, 11:21pm
WD40 is the best for masking tape residue on aluminium so should be good for sellotape.

Rub with talcum powder or baking soda on a microfibre cloth.

Drink until you don't care about it anymore? I like this solution.

Was always a bottle of eucalyptus oil in the house for this very reason growing up.

gusthe1, May 21, 12:29pm
Agree. Alcohol is the answer to most problems

Petrol.
A dab on a rag will remove almost any glues made & not harm most surfaces.
As per normal for ANY glue remover, test on a hidden spot 1st

Me too, eucalyptus works great on lots of sticky stuff, also find alcohol good if strong enough (60%+, i have home brew stuff at 88% here = 176 proof, works good).
