Magnetic flyscreens

Can you please give me the pros and cons of the magnetic flyscreens? We are looking at flyscreens and can't decide what is best. Thanks in advance.

I gave up on mine as the magnets fell off or got mismatched causing a tangle

The flies really need to be metal to stick to the screen properly.

I really like mine but you need to hang them carefully and make sure they are perfectly level or the magnets will not connect. The kids and animals can use them with ease so I will be getting new ones next year. The velcro strips do tend to let go but I deal with that. They do not work well in the wind but my home has been pretty much fly free for the last two years. Love the ease of access for all. I wish there was someone who supplied spare bits.

Thanks very one!

They would be better if one side of the Velcro was stitched to the fabric. The sticky doesn't seem strong enough to adhere to the material. Don't bother in a windy area either. The wind would blow ours open.

The biggest down side for me is that they only come in one width, so I ended up buying and extra one and attaching a 3rd section so it would fit my sliding door, was not a biggie

Tried them, absolute waste of money in my opinion.

We went straight for purpose built fly screens, non magnetic as they don't last. Expensive but should last for many years. Removable slider style for opening windows and roller cassette style for french doors, disappear when not in use. Have loved having no flies inside this summer. Only negative is we have to keep letting the dogs in and out!

Those sliding windows they have in Aussie are not that attractive and probably have more issues jamming up etc than push out ones.

You can buy them and custom make them off here which is a tricky job but they are good for windows if you do a good job of fitting them. No good for doors though. The ready made ones you buy for doors aren't good as the Velcro peels off the door quickly and they blow open in a good wind.
