You wrote that your raspberries had a good crop - I was envious! I was wondering what type of raspberry you grew? I'm keen to plant some this year. Recommendations please 😀

Be aware that Auckland is far too hot and humid for them to do well. They grow best in areas that have frosts or snow in winter.
You can try but they struggle here.

We'd be planting in Bay of Plenty, costal but it may still be too warm then. Our neighbour has a bush which seems to do okay so I might just try

We are in Christchurch and a friend gave us six canes to plant last year. We had a lot of fruit off them and I ate the last one on July 27th ! . We just left them over winter and now have probably 24 plants and they are covered in tiny raspberries now. They seem to be pretty hardy. Ours are confined by concrete paths and the house but I imagine they would spread unless trimmed or thinned out as they send out lots of shoots.

I am in South Auckland and had several canes all in a tyre to contain them. (Yeah right) I was picking for a couple of months over Christmas and would get a punnet for any special occasion. No name but they were once a year fruiters. I got another variety and they would fruit all year, Winter they were not so nice to eat but still fruited.

Give them a try - I'm in the BOP too, have them growing here, though don't know the name.

Well we have 20 raspberry plants and they are very productive and we live in Auckland. These plants are not struggling

I have a small row, in Auckland, produced enough for OH and me last autumn but not as many as I've grown in colder climes. Probably not economic but bought ones are so expensive and we love them.
