I have a seedling come up in my garden from a the pink South African Guave. Is it worth keeping? Or will it take years to fruit?

Are you talking about a seed from a can of guavas.

niffer13, Feb 17, 6:44pm
No I already have a tree growing

Where did the seed come from, be interested to know as I would also like one.

There's suppliers selling plants that appear to have the big fruit that you get in cans, I don't claim this is the only vendor:

They must be reasonably common, where I work, sells the plants.

According my friend Google, it takes 3-4 years to produce fruit. You are welcome :)

We've had fruit on cutting grown plants that have been in the nursery less than a year.

Are you talking the big pink Guava which comes in tins? For some reason I'm surprised it is available here.

Yep thats the one. My old boss had one growing quite happily in his garden, and we have lots growing well in the nursery - this is Whangarei
