Its taken over under my hedges and onto the gardens. I was told to spray with Amatral(spelling) , but warned it could kill everything else. Thanks in advance

There have been numerous threads on this.Trouble with sprays is that you have to get all the sections or it just keeps growing. Pull it out by hand and put in a covered bucket of water to make your own fertiliser. If you throw it in the compost it just keeps growing.

Just like Ivy, the best way to get rid of it without sprays is good old hand pulling. We have some wandering willie which I was just pulling out yesterday as it is too close to fruit trees.

Borrow a couple of chooks, they love it.

Just wait a few years. There are three ways of controlling it now.

If your situation permits it makes a great living mulch. The soil under a carpet of it is beautiful.

We had a lot of it when we bought, we live rural so have chooks and they have cleaned up most of it

Funnily enough, it's awesome cover on a steep bank next to my house, but yes, a few chooks will clean it up in no time. + yummo free-range eggs.

I had a very thick, dense lot of it in the corner of the section, had to get rid of it as my dog is allergic to it. Rolled up the worst of it and took it to the dump (ute load of the stuff) , fenced off the corner and sprayed the rest with Amitrole. Think I sprayed it again when some resprouted. Now 4 years on and might get the odd one or 2 bits coming thru from the neighbour. but nothing actually growing from anything left on my side. Just have to keep an eye on it and pull up any small bits straight away.

Hand pulling (the more precise the better but not always practical on large areas) and repeat spraying of glyphosate works for me

thanks for your suggestions - live in the city so no chooks - we are both in our eighties - so will look for some one to pull it out for us. have got big .black bags to put it into and then out on rubbish day. Happy gardening Noni R
