Tape for draft stopping?

stuffed, Jun 15, 3:08pm
We have double cedar doors from our lounge to outside that we only use in the warmer weather. We tape the joins outside over the winter - suggestions for a good tape to use? Just that the doors have now been stained and having trouble to get something to stuck.
We live in "The Sticks" so no Bunnings etc!

Auto masking tape.

Most masking tapes will fail on cedar - try some duct tape , fabric based type - ex Bunnings or M10 for about $10 a roll. It is about 50mm wide so plenty to cover join.

What about sticking some foam in the gap between the doors? I wouldn't want to mess up a freshly stained surface with an adhesive.

Just done ours with 2" wide insulation tape.
Shouldn't take off the varnish and the glue will wipe off with turps.
Hopefully.
Has stopped the gale that was blowing through

Stuffed: I acknowledge that this isn't the question you asked, but if you have a router I'd recommend these German weather seals. They are significantly better than any adhesive seal. I did my entire house for about $250 worth of seal, but each window casement/door needs to be removed and a thin slot routed around its edge to accept the seal. It's a more permanent solution than your current one. which may, or may not, be attractive to you

Try the RP16si. Not a tape but a permanent solution for french doors that have too big a gap between the two doors
