it looks like a Sasanqua Camellia, smaller leaf? Sasanqua Camellia are more fragrant than Japonica Camellia or Reticulata Camellia. Looks like a semi double.

SASANQUA
In flower from February - August
Very hardy, free blooming and early flowering from Feb-Aug.
Great for landscaping ??

Yes it is a Sasanqua flowers very freely from June, it is double with a darker creamy centre.
Thanks very much for your help. I don't think it is the one pictured as the leaves are smaller and more serrated on the edges and the flower centre is more cream rather than yellow

Would this be meaning European times because I was always of the understanding that Sasanqua were the winter flowering ones ?

So did I.

I haven't forgotten you annies3 - I don't recognise it instantly so I'm going to send your pic to a friend and see if they can id it. Just been flat to the boards and very little spare time at the moment. Sorry.

Is it "Quintessence"?

piquant, Jul 10, 10:17am
No, not Quintessence. That is single, prostrate growing, larger leaves and some petals have a tinge of pink - especially on the backs. I love Quintessence, one of my faves.

Some of the buds do have a little pink showing on the outsides which would be the backs when open I suppose,
Thank you piquant,
And everyone else, I can't help wondering if it is something different.
