I have many many monach butterflies but not enough flowers they like to feed on so i am asking for names of low growing perennials or shrubs they will be able to enjoy.Yes I also have many many caterpillars.
and can they get nectar from sun flowers?
Thank you

Sunflowers aren't good nectar-producers. But when seeds form, the Goldfinches LOVE them!

Sadly I have never seen a goldfinch here

If they do that will be good as I do have one of those that isn't flowering I will have to have a chat to it.

Most blue flowering sweet scented plants provide food for nectar loving insects, butterflies among them, but bees too. Worth planting if you want a happy garden.

Buddleia seems to be a favourite and has a long flowering season. Just looked down the back garden and there are a couple of monarchs hanging around the bushes down by the stream.

Buddliea I have now seen is classed as a weed and DOC has introduced
something to control it. So that is not something I will now plant.
