https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/401326326.jpg This brings back memories of my childhood - as some of you know, "violeting" and "primrosing" was a regular Sunday afternoon activity in spring. So late this afternoon - I picked this little posy - and it sits in the same lovely Georgian silver mustard pot that the posies in those days used to. And the thing that makes it so special is the addition of snowdrops - my mum's favourite flower - and tomorrow would have been her 101st birthday. How's that for a lovely reminder?

Every year I pic the first roses and make a posy to put in front of my late Mum's photo. She was an avid gardener. 9 times out of 10 its In Loving Memory. The last roses of the year end up there, and dry into a perfect little bunch that last till the first ones of the next season. Old fashioned and lovely.

My English MiL and I never saw eye to eye, but boy, she knew her primroses. When she arrived for an extended (O.M.G.) kiwi visit she spotted some under our hedge and from then on emptied the teapot (no teabags for her) over them for three solid months. The following spring I got vast numbers of flowers from ginormous fat plants and ever since have recycled my tealeaves (minus bags) onto all likely beneficiaries. RIP Aurelia, gone but not forgotten, lol.

Delightful story. I have one anenmone (sp), 3 iris reticulata, several camellias (only a couple on each bush) 1 paperwhite daff, , a couple of crocus's & lots of buds on the ordinary daffys, 2 galanthus, hellebores galore & that's about it . not too bad after a blardy cold winter & more to come apparently.
