New Scrub Cutter

kenw1, May 13, 5:44pm
Need to get a new scrub cuter, my echo has died after 20 plus years of flogging the guts out of it.

Option 1 Stihl, nearly a 1000 bucks, will probably out last me.

Option 2 a el cheap Morrision or whatever from Bunnings around 280 bucks, 2 year warranty.

Any opinions?

I do have enough work to keep it going for a long time.

option 1 is the better way to go we have an el cheapo Morrison and it is crap most times I want to use it it don't want to start or the starter cord pulls out

I use a Shindaiwa. Excellent machine but similar price to the Stihl

The price difference between that and a Stihl is large but not massive, and I know that a Stihl will always be sell able.

got a Morrison. Figured it'd clear the scrub then be worn out and biffed.
wore out several scrub blades,, now its a line trimmer and still going perfect.

We have his and hers stihl heavy duty brushcutters and I love mine. I changed the head to one of these as it was quicker and easier to replace the line. http://littljuey.com/products/cutting-heads/professional-engine-head.html Sometimes the head is pretty hot so I have a tool that hangs off my belt to help me remove the head. Ours get regular services and do a great job of maintaining our land.

Those little jueys are overpriced to my way of thinking.

Been using those heads for probably the last 10 years or more, they certainly speed up the new nylon.

My work hire brush cutters on occasion from Hire Pool, and I have used the stihl and husqvarna. Both have the tri blade.
I am a stihl man, but I am quite impressed with the husqvarna. We are cutting thick blackberry, gorse you name it, and going hard out.

Both shindaiwa and echo are better than a stihl any day.
