Have you ever bought framing to mitre? If so you have your answer, then add matt cutting, glass and framers time you will realise the materials and the skill of the trademan deserve the cost.

I have known two people who owned picture framing buisinesses over the years. One was a one man band and one employed 3 staff. Neither of them were wealthy people. It must cost so much because it costs alot.

Its like every business or trade.
They have skills and need to charge x amount to make a weekly living.
Yet we pay Mayors and Councillors and fat cat CEO hundreds of thousands to sit behind a desk.

I have had a piece of art framed measuring 50x46 cms, no matt but non reflective glass. It cost $420.00. I would like to have more framed but find it too expensive.

Wow that is a lot of money.
I bet they just have a special mitre block to cut the corners.

I have bought another print off here, 60x80 so as you can imagine I'm nervous of getting it professionally framed, Though I must say the job they did on the first one was excellent.

wow that is expensive, last one I got done was 2 years ago now, nearly twice that size and was about $280, I thought that was expensive at the time and so didn't get the other one done, its pinned to the wall with drawing pins. lol. Only an inexpensive print

Your local High School may do night classes to learn to do it yourself. I had a lot of fun.

Factory Frames. Buy the frames and do it yourself.

One way to find out why experts are worth paying.

This. I then went and bought the matt cutter. Have saved lots of money and run out of wall space! Get the glass from a local glazier.

I have a watercolour (21st present) that is a wee bit bigger than that but cost around $1500 to get framed - museum quality glass and very posh frame though.

I've made this comment before regarding "how much to do. "
Best way to get an accurate, up to date price is to take it to a picture framer.
They will measure it up and give you a price. Maybe get quotes from 2 different people. Comments from other people who have had different size pictures framed don't really give you any idea.
