Is it OK to chuck sheep fertilizer (poo) all over my garden - plants, rhododendrons, camellias, agapanthus, etc ? Someone gave me a bag and I thought I would use it ?

Are we talking sheep pellets here (processed, dried pellets) or "been under the woolshed and pulled out a whole load of sheep shit" fertilizer? Both are fine but if you have any mulch or weedmat down - it's not going to do a whole lot of good chucking it on top. Also, if you have dogs - they have a penchant for the stuff! You are best to put the pellets on the soil, around the plants and then cover with mulch. As the pellets absorb water and start to break down, they can become a bit smelly for a few days - this is alleviated if mulched. If you have just sheep poo - my advice is to compost it first to rid it of weed seed. A lot of that goes in one end of a sheep - and straight out the other! You don't need extra weed in your gardens.

Thanks for that. Yes they are sheep pellets and no I don't have dogs. Your advice is really great - I will put it around tomorrow and cover with mulch !

I have used the sheep pellets from the Warehouse, and guessing they are putting nitrogen back into the soil, but man have they introduced some weeds into my raised beds! Obviously they haven't really been heated when being produced to kill the weed seeds? Anybody else had issues?

I have a dog and I have a bag of those, was wondering if they're heat treated, so soaked a few and they dissolved after a few days. Planning to use it as liquid manure. I am wondering how much to break it down with water so it isn't too strong. It is quite thick. As far as I am concerned I wish I hadn't bought it - stupid stuff for a old tub and container gardener to buy.
