Budget nail gun

I know you get what you pay for but I am retired, got a slightly dodgy shoulder and intend to build a quite large deck and pergola. "The Tool Shed" has a gas powered nail gun for $450 , has anybody had experience with one of these? The speed I work would not tax it in that way.

I own a paslode nail gun but I never used it to build my deck, because I used stainless steel nails which are much cheaper buying loose than buying s/s gun nails.

I have a Paslode too but wouldn't considered it for a deck. Anular grooved nails are the go on decks

^^^ This ^^^. A nail gun makes a mess of a deck. Guess its ok if you have lower standards but I wouldnt even consider using one.

A friend was in the same position and bought a Toolshed nailgun on special.
It came with a good warranty, which combined with the price swung the deal for him.
He is very happy with it.

It is your deck, do it the way that suits you.

Just finished a deck last week, used 10g stainless star drive screws . Brilliant to use,no twisting def use again, would'nt use nails on a deck esp on wide boards as cupping can be an issue.

You can actually get guns that fire decking nails without leaving a mess. Can't remember the brand or the nails, but i know they are around. You may need a round head nail as i have in my senco lightweight instead of the normal 'D' nail.

We were sold a duo fast gun many years ago that fired fifty mm round head nails. It is a piece of crap and the nails ended up falling out

M senco would be the best gun i have used, and it fired duo fast RH nails.

Personally I would use SS decking screws rather than nails

I got a senco framing gun for ten bucks of trade me and the best tool Ive ever had. Needed my air compressor to work. No good for deck tops, I use stainless screws here by the sea.

Annular grooved nails? Clearly you have been living in a cave because those are not 'the go'. decks are screwed with SS screws.
