Digging, digging, digging and yet more digging

Its a pain in the patouchie that stuff. I used to dig them up but found more sprouting in the same place from bulbs that I missed. Now I'm having a go at cutting the leaves instead as outlined here:

I leave them now. they have pretty flowers and their growth keeps the soil shaded so works similar to a mulch, which also stops other weeds growing.

You really need to get to it early. If you leave it, the oxalis plant it will reproduce. Depending on the variety of oxalis, and there are a number of different varieties, they have different ways of reproducing. Don't let it get to the stage. When the oxalis appears out of the ground either pick the top off, put on some weed killer or dig it out. The most common variety reproduces by developing a cluster of a dozen or so tiny bulbs around the top of the parent bulb; I also have another variety in my garden that comes up in the middle of winter that will send out a lateral under ground and little bulbs will grow from the lateral. If you have this variety it is much harder to dig up. So, get on to it quick.

Same as me.

Chickens love the bulbs. I would borrow some and let them pick through your garden. You get it fertilised at the same time.

First thing I thought when I read thread. I have just had a huge pine tree removed and fence taken down and now see the neighbours section has some growing in it and is starting to come to bigger life with all the things around being cut down. Hope I might be able to get on top of it before it gets too good a hold here. Grrrrrrrrrr maybe stringing around next door neighbour might help. vacant properties not maintained are a pain Granted sometimes even the fool that owns next door is better than a fool I have not met yet :)
