AEG 18v brushless reviews

Looking at purchasing new 18v combo kit, any reviews on the AEG stuff?
6 year trade and 3 year battery warranty is as good as anywhere. The drill (which will be used most, im a sparky) seems torquey enough. Ive currently got a pretty decent Hitachi drill / driver combo but am looking at getting a few extra tools (18v sds drill, sabre saw, multi tool) and the AEG stuff is a lot cheaper.

Ryanm2 - You're a professional. Buy professional tools.

I had top of the range Bosch for the last 5 years. Just upgraded to top of the range Makita. It's like the difference between a Mazda and a Mercedes.

You're not even looking at two hundred dollars difference between the top of the line Makita drill/driver kit with 2 x 5Ah batteries, and the top AEG drill and driver.

The Makita drill has about 50% more torque and a few hundred RPM faster.

Compare what you're looking at in AEG, with the Makita DLX2055T (5Ah) or DLX2055M (4Ah) kits.

From what I can see, you'd be looking at $649 for AEG, and $829 for the Makita from the Toolshed. It's a no brainer considering the difference in the specifications & quality.

yeah - you are right. I had a good run out of my first Makita minus a couple of issues that were sorted under warranty (I had the original 3 speed lithium drill which had the clutch issues). I guess I can always pick up the bare tools like a sabre saw and sds drill when required. I wasn't even considering AEG until a work colleague suggested them, there multi combo tools (5pce for $999) is pretty good though, not brushless though.

We have about 10 chippies in our crew. All but one have Makita or DeWalt gear and are very happy. We get around 10 years out of them.
The last one has AEG and when it dies, he will be changing over. His is about 4 years old and the batteries are getting tired and the drill makes a grinding noise. Cant be fixed under warranty because it still goes.

We were a Hitachi team for many years and were very satisfied. Last year we changed to the latest De Walt kit. It is amazing.

My sparkie son just bought a brushless DeWalt for about $800 and is well pleased with it.
