Oh and just in case its not clear, the circled part of the pole in the picture goes right down to the floor

Its impossible to see what the beam is holding up by looking at the photo so anybody that gives advise will be guessing. You need to get advive from a builder or engineer.

We dd this in our house. Put in a flitch beam by taking down the ceiling, notching out the floor joists above and using joist hangers, extra studs in the wall to support the beam and lastly put new piles under the wall support as the existing piles were too far away. Re gib the ceiling.

It's not possible to say without looking at the roof etc,but I have taken out these beams by putting a beam inside the roofspace and using ceiling ties and brackets to hang the joists. But you need to get a builder and engineer to take a look and draft a plan for you,you can then get the job costed. Good luck.

Most cost effective to hide that beam is a lowered ceiling. ANYTHING else is going to cost you HEAPS.
Permits Builders labor Materials
BUT you could do the lowered ceiling a lot cheaper & a good chance of no permits needed

You say the roof beam supports a gutter valley so the assumption is that there is no roof space directly above the beam - just the roof & gutter! In that case any repair/replacement is going to be internal & probably visible. Perhaps an angled or arched support attached to the adjacent wall & a matching one at the other end!
