Double Curtain Tracks

opencast, Jan 9, 8:51pm
Hi - I'm looking at this as an option with sheer curtains on the track closest to the window and pleated curtains on the front rod). Does anyone here have any experience with these? We won't have pelmets and I was wondering about light leakage (and I suppose warmth in winter) with the distance of the heavier curtain away from the wall. Also, do they tend to be a lot more expensive than single rods? Any guidance gratefully received.

Thanks!

All our sheers are on stretch wire like this:

It puts the sheers against the window frame and you can use a single rod for the curtains and everything stays dark. The eyelets are easy to screw into the window frame.
I did use a double rod once, but it was in the lounge so not a room I was worried about light leakage in (and in London where I had double glazing and central heating so wasn't worried about heat either).

Thanks for your help. The way that you have suggested is how they are now, so we can always stay with this strategy if need be. Not too worried about the heat loss (a little perhaps) but we will most likely have to replace our windows so will get double glazing + insulation in the walls.

My sheers are on a curtain track which is fitted inside the window frame at the top which works very well.
