What size compressor do I need to have a constant

120psi/800kpa for a small edge bander machine?

You're possibly better off to establish the cubic feet per minute the machine will consume, as that's a more common description of compressor output.

It was hard to get a single phase compressor that will reliably put out much more than 15-17 CFM when I was in the market for one a few years ago.

The numbers you have provided are air pressure, but not air volume

That pressure is on the higher end of what any cheap compressor can reach. Are you sure it needs the pressure that high?

Usually compressor capacity is measured in the volume of air it is capable of producing at a certain pressure. Does your edge bander have a specification on the volume it requires? As well as the pressure?

Then you need to work out how big a tank you will need, so that the compressor is not stopping and starting too often.

Google the specs for the edge bander. Somewhere it should have a cubic/feet/minute CFM requirement. Then match your compressor to cope adequately with that. Compressors are rated in CFM.
Stuff like that can have a big cfm requirement= bigger compressor.

for that pressure your going to be well out of the range of most cheaper compressors. for 120psi minimum, 50psi diff switch means max pressure of 170psi. don't forget to work out flow rate at the high pressure (ie 170psi) as flow rate is reduced as pressure goes up.

Looks like you will need to go 3 phase, to get the cfm required.
