I've just been told recently about something available from hardwares - "Stickoff" I think - citrus-based, so not too nasty. But you could try meths or nailpolish remover. The enamel surface of a fridge door should be ok with nailpolish remover, but you might want to test it somewhere inconspicuous first. Turps doesn't do it, nor kerosene.

De-solv-it is designed to remove labels etc. Available from most hardware shops
Ive taken stickers off with turps for years prior to painting doors etc
