Does anyone know if you can lighten or remove the bulk of a wood stain on rough sawn macrocarpa timber beams? Stain colour is quite dark and not too happy with result, keen for lighter shade. I used a water based oil stain, TIA :)

Maybe buy some liquid chlorine from a pool shop and experiment with a small area - otherwise wait for Mother Nature to lighten colour with age?

You could remove the bulk of the macro with a planer, im sure it will remove the stain at the same time :) So get the planer out and do that. Anything water based outside is shit in the long run ,mostly

I would think sanding or as above using a plane would be your best bet.
