YouI insurance - any issues claiming?

karlp2, Jun 18, 1:30am
Hi All, interested to know from anyone of their experience making a claim with YouI. There's lots of info on the messageboards about people's experiences around their pricing, in our case they about 70% of what we pay with AMI (across all of our insurances). Been with AMI for 20yrs and must say they've always been good to deal with if we had a claim, just curious about YouI and others experiences around making a claim. Thanks for your input.

if you've had good service from AMI, why not just ask them to match the YOUI price?

Tried that, did sharpen their pencil a little but are still well off the mark

Youi are owned by OUTsurance Holdings, a South African insurance company.

Google "youi car insurance review" and make your own mind up (it doesn't make for pleasant reading).

If you want further confirmation just ask your local panel beater!

Youi. meh, bad reviews.
I'm with AMI, had commercial vehicle with State, had vehicle with AA, all insurance with AMI now.
Always had good experiences with them.

wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.

Run a mile and read the small print.
such as alarm system has to be checked annually by an authorized tech was in a friend's policy.

Read the policy by the sound of the new insurance add out from a competitor Youi may have quite a few exclusions - reading between the lines. If you are comparing on price make sure you are comparing apples with apples.

I've been with AMI for years and have never had a problem and have had a few claims. I'm happy to stay with them even if it costs a wee bit more as I have good peace of mind based on prior experience

Interesting reading. Notice how the few positive reviewers only have ever posted 1 review. A little suspect imho. Wouldn't touch them. Imagine trying to make an offshore company pay out. Good luck claiming what you are entitled to. Personally I like to support businesses that at least employ some staff in this country.

I rang Youi early in the piece regarding our house insurance.
Cut a long story short they were way dearer than our insurer AMI and when I told them they said they would match AMI.

A joke; there full of sh*t.

And their ad's drive me crazy; the worst ad's anywhere.

Personally I think there adds were very clever and they worked numerous people yourself included fell for their marketing.

Been with NZI - now Lantern for years. Just found to replace my glass window I have an excess of $400 - used to be $200. After over 30 years and about 3 claims - I am disappointed,

Yes I have made a few stupid mistakes in my life.

lovelurking, Jun 25, 6:18am
I would say don't go near them.

I know someone insured by them who was the innocent victim of a hit and drive off and because she hadn't had the insurance for long enough she wasn't covered.

It's in the fine print they said. I expect to have cover for 12 months effective immediately don't you?

They are R soles to deal with.

I spent twenty minutes on the phone with a laughably bad South African Super Salesman only be be quoted nearly double what I am currently paying (with more exclusions and a higher excess). That's 20 minutes I'll never get back. You owe me 20 minutes, sleazy Saffir Sales Guy.

I rang Youi for a quote but they wouldnt give me an Agreed Value quote

I agree with you comadi as far as the worst ad on tv goes! Remember when Fair Go had that competition each year about the best & worst ads on tv. And YOUI is right up there for the worst ad!
