Firewall construction and cost?

Anyone know what cost would be involved in putting a firewall between a business and residential house? Probably no more than 20 square metres.
This is to separate business from home. Be very interested to know what construction this would be made of, brick, concrete block or some form of fireproof material if it exists?

they use fireproof gib board. It's pink in colour. I have a wall of it in my garage, between me and the neighbour. Apparently it will save my bacon in a fire.

It would depend on what the rating requirement is.
It's a bit more than just pink gib.
Your question is really how long is a piece of string without knowing details.
What rating is required?
Is it inside an existing building or out side?
Does it need to extend past the existing building perimaters.?

If it's pink on your side it will save your neighbour in a fire. Hopefully they also have pink gib on there side. ( actually it is red when it is new)

It can be built as a standard timber framing wall, lined with GIB
® Fire Rated boards.
Depending on fire rating requirement you can use one or two layers of Gib 'fyreline' on each side of the wall, thickness varies, 10, 13, 16 or even 19mm.

Concrete blocks wall would work too.

It is inside an existing building, I'm not sure what rating is required without contacting council as they are the ones who have advised existing owners this should be done but have indicated it might not be economically viable currently due to the current condition of the existing structure which got us worried that this could be a five figure job. We are looking to purchase the property and are trying to assess value at present based on all the work we know needs to be done including the addition of a firewall. I appreciate this could be a piece of string question.

Existing timber-frame walls can be reclad with fireline Gib on one or both sides, sometimes on top of the old standard gib. Details depend on the required fire rating and application.
Windows are a challenge, better block them off.
Fire-rated doors come complete with frames and all the fittings must comply with the code.
Any pipes or cables through the wall must be 'fire-stopped', and the whole thing must be signed off by a fire engineer.
Easy really!

you will need a fire report done by a fire engineer,it will be designed to suit the situation.it is a science of its own and the council will no doubt require one especially if there is accommodation involved.fire rating can be a very expensive exersise
good luck
