Mattress sliping of base

susievb, Aug 8, 6:56am
I have tried glueing non skid rubbery stuff on the base and mattress but it has rubbed of the mattress.
I was thinking about getting some small pieces of wood and drilling them to the base to stop the mattress being able comeing off the base.

Have you tried something?

We bought a brand new bed from Brownies last year and have that problem also.

Have you tried velcro strips? Try Spotlight and get the widest ones they've got, and tack them to mattress and base.

the problem is both mattress and base have that satin finish, and l have restless legs so l am always going from my left side, on my front to the left, then on my front to the right, then on my right side, then on my back , and worse in summer hen l try to fin a cool spot.

I understand that new beds don't have the slippry finish like my old bed has, but it may be a while before l get a new bed.
Thanks oh hunnihunni something to think about

Had a friend had same problem. Solved straight away with a couple of hand-grips on the wall.

He he! unfortunately it is not that sort of movement that is causing the problem

Hi susievb the restless legs thing can be eased by taking magnesium.(magnesium has many benefits google it) And I wonder if you have memory foam or latex in the upper padding of your mattress? We have been through 2 new beds in the last 4 years - mainly due to moi! (menopause!) We had a latex topper in the mattress. It got so hot in the summer I couldn't sleep. Had to get out of the bed & let myself cool off! And the bed! Ended up changing the whole bed. Being too hot certainly keeps you awake at night. Better to be on the cool side. Have you got a valance between the mattress & base? That may be contributing to it slipping about.

I take magnesium as part of the multi vit pill every day, it is a second hand bed so no memory foam but maybe latex, I had a valence between the mattress and base, but took it off so I could glue on the non skid stuff on.

I think because I turn over in the same direction every time the mattress moves in one direction rather than if i rolled one way then rolled back to equalize it.

what about a few rubber front door mats? would they provide some grip?

Buy some of the mats from the $2 shop that used for lining kitchen drawers to stop dishes sliding. They are like a rubber lace mat with a lot of grip and come in a roll. You can cut them up without worrying about fraying.
