Rhododendrons

windwhistle, Apr 22, 12:44pm
I bought and planted a couple of rhododendrons about a month ago. At the time they had lovely buds with one just starting to open.Well, it seems as though the one opening is just turning brown not the lovely white it should be. It seems the other plant has the same thing happening just a bud is showing a few brown petals with a bit of white,
Can anyone helps me and tell me what might be wrong with them!
Cheers

Even though it hasn't opened properly! It looks as though they won't open all the way, just dying before it has a chance to bloom fully.

Drought! If they were planted a month ago-was it very dry then!Or frost! This will make the buds go brown. So will wet feet.I have many rhodos, white included, and none of mine will flower untillater-beginning around August, but I am in the Waikato. Sometimes they have an odd flowering out of season if the weather tricks them.

If anything looks rotten snip it off. Rhododendrons properly flower in spring - wait and see how it goes then.(I have one red that has a small flowering in autumn.)
