I dont think so -weasel- as that moth is found in mid east America. this photo was taken today in Putaruru. It is simular in size to the puri moth but grey and not green. Thanks for your feedback though.

could be a hawkmoth!they do come in a few varying colours!

Or related Hawk moth.but i think Agrius convolvuliis the only one which is found in New Zealand.

Thanks for all replies. I think deathrockboy has hit it on the head as photos of Agrius convolvuli seems a close match.
