.if either of these guys will cut timber to size and is there a cost involved!
Just after some odd sized fence rails and unfortunatley don't have any way of getting them back home if I buy at the advertised 4.8m length.
Thanks

If they don't can't you just take a hand saw with you!

Most places will cut to your requested size. Both Bunnings and M10 did for me recently no cost.

Bunnings is meant to charge $1 per cut.

what a rip off

normaly they wont charge you for small amounts. But if you need heaps cut, there's usually a cutting charge, and as far as I know, it's up to the individual stores how much they charge.I imagine something like a $10 cutting fee would be fair!

Only if it's lengthwise cuts.

I've had wood cut at both, and no one has charged me even when I've had a lot cut, and even when bunnings has a sign up saying they charge

You mean a 'cut off!'

Bunnings have never charged me either.

Take a handsaw and chop 'em yourself, takes under a minute to hack through a bit of 100x50.

What about a 200 x 50! more than a minute - depending on your saw.

mitre 10 has loan trailers , $20 bond which you get back when the trailer is returned can you do that if you dont want to cut at the store!

amasser, Mar 19, 11:02am
The saw cost $30,000 so a charge was reasonable. Also, when a customer brings you plans for a rabbit hutch and wants all the pieces cut. Would you like to be the other customer waiting while all that was done!
Would you, as a business owner, want your staff to do free work!

Would you as a business owner buy a $30,000 saw to chop up fence rails!

I bought a whole lot of decking timber recently at Mitre 10 . $1 per cut!I wasn't impressed - it's not like its a big job to quickly run the saw through it.My trailer isn't big enough to carry 6 metre lengths though, so I had no choice.
