When tradesmen quote your jobs.

zak410, Feb 12, 6:34pm
Do you phone them all to let them know if they got the job or not !

aragorn2003, Feb 12, 6:45pm
You would only call them if you accept their quote.

zak410, Feb 12, 6:51pm
So they all did something for you, for free, and a courtesy call isn't needed !
it may help them plan the next job.

caspar26, Feb 12, 6:54pm
Yes would be nice to know

knowsley, Feb 12, 7:27pm
I guess there would be nothing stopping you contacting them to ask. It never ceases to amaze me that many businesses never follow up after providing a quote.

davea74, Feb 12, 8:11pm
Exactly. You are the customer. You only need to ring the one you want to do the work.If the others were bothered, they'd ring to check.

What a miserable attitude. Are you scared of telling someone they were unsuccessful with their quote !
If you want them to quote you again in the future, then your letting them know that they missed out this time may help them become more competitive withprice, quality or service and- - - - to your ultimate benefit.

It's never occurred to me NOT to let tradesmen know either way. I don't have to like their quote to appreciate the time they took to provide it.

caspar26, Feb 13, 6:31am
Great attitude, its people like this that us trademen go that extra mile for because they really appreciate it.

cat393, Feb 13, 9:56am
am self employed and is good when ppl ring to let me know they accepted another plus can check to see if they really are getting better value for money and in my case they arent. As you say is just basic courtesy but few have that anymore. Most ares elfish and dont give a damn then wonder why we have so many problems in our society

tigra, Feb 13, 12:40pm
Yep I try to let everybody who has quoted know whether they have got the job or not. Usually a simple text or email is sufficient. Its really just a courtesy thing.

zak410, Feb 13, 3:48pm
Well done you !
It's probably never occurred to you either that you are in a very small minority about that.

daz1968, Feb 13, 4:29pm
Let them know,Im self employed and it helps to plan jobs that are coming up,if you prefer not to call which is fair enough, just a simple text,or email will do.A tradesman may ring just to see how much missed out by,for future quoting,up to you how far you want to go in regards to devulging $

It makes my day when someone takes the time to acknowledge my quote and let me know I was unsuccessful (if you know what I mean) I always take time to thank them for letting me know
