Tradesmen and small jobs

Interesting discussion. We have a small handyman business in
Wellington and usually have plenty of work on. Priority jobs, however small, are those for existing good clients - we are occasionally 'too busy' for difficult clients. We find that where we are already known a phone estimate with actuals billed at the end is generally acceptable.

We find that doing what we say, when we say, is often more important to clients than the cost, within reason of course. Mind you, this is 'Wellington central-ish, so many clients are time poor.

We charge $45 per hour plus GST, so not the cheapest around. We are probably undercut by under-the-counter operators. We stopped using Builderscrack as too much time spent being one of a crowd chasing jobs where the client's key concern was lowest price.

PS One lovely client who always leaves chocolate biscuits gets top service of course!
